When Samsung released their new phone, it came with a big announcement that blew many away: virtual reality capabilities. But, while some may think that Samsung is the company responsible for this incredible piece of technology, it has actually been around for decades. But, with it being so obscure, most may not have realized it actually existed. Now that it has been brought into the spotlight, you cannot turn the TV on without hearing something about virtual reality.
Although there is something in virtual reality for everyone, it really appeals to gamers, who can use virtual reality for a whole new game playing experience. But, to be able to do this they have to have the right computer setup and a fully decked out PC that is VR-ready can cost a user upwards of $1,000. A price that, while expensive to some, may seem extremely reasonable to avid gamers who want the newest and best technology. Luckily, Windows 10 has made it incredibly easy for users to setup their VR headsets and software, letting them immerse themselves much quicker.
From Early Adopters to Everyone
This is not to say that everyone will jump on the virtual reality bandwagon. In fact, with how new this technology is to the mainstream market, many may prefer to wait and see how this initial release turns out. Like with any sort of new technology, there will be a select group of early adopters that will be the first to give virtual reality a try. But, once they give it their seal of approval, the floodgates will start to open as more and more people begin joining the virtual reality revolution. Like with many things, the more people are exposed to it and hear how great VR is, the more likely they will be to want it for themselves.
The Supply and Demand Effect
This does not mean, however, that the tech companies charged with creating virtual reality gear will be able to keep up with the demand as it continues to grow throughout the year. They will need more VR-ready software and capable content, along with the actual devices. Luckily for the companies, however, computers that are released this year will likely already be VR-capable, which will give them one less thing that they have to worry about. That way, they can focus more on creating and improving on the VR technology itself, so that they will be able to meet the demand as it begins to grow throughout the year.
Although 2016 is still just beginning, it is safe to say that this is the year of virtual reality technology. No matter how you feel about it, virtual reality is the newest technology hype- and with good reason. It is a perfect example of how far technology has come since these inventions first began decades ago. Before, people were not able to interact with their technology. Now? People can literally immerse themselves in a whole new world, making for a truly mind-blowing user experience.
